Ingredients

  • SPG Seasoning

  • Southbound Sauce

  • 500 g ribeye, striploin or rump steak
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil
  • Provolone or mozzarella cheese, grated
  • Cooked rice, to serve

Directions

  1. Place the steak in the freezer for 10 minutes to firm up slightly. This makes it easier to slice.
  2. Remove from the freezer and slice the steak as thin as possible, cutting against the grain.
  3. Heat a large pan over high heat with olive oil.
  4. Add the sliced steak and cook for 1–2 minutes, letting it sear.
  5. Add the diced onion and continue cooking, stirring occasionally.
  6. Season generously with Lane’s SPG.
  7. Cook for a few more minutes until the steak is nicely browned and the onion is soft.
  8. Turn off the heat and immediately grate provolone or mozzarella over the top, allowing it to melt through the steak.
  9. Serve hot alongside rice and finish with Lane’s South Bound Sauce.
