Ingredients
Lane’s BBQ Signature rub — to season the smash patties
1 kg beef mince (coarse grind, 20% fat recommended for juiciness)
2 packets store-bought roti paratha (frozen or fresh; laccha paratha works great for extra flakiness)
Ghee (or butter/oil) for grilling
American high-melt cheese slices (or cheddar/mozzarella if unavailable)
Lettuce shredded
Tomato slices
Pickles
blank
6 tablespoons Lane’s BBQ Kinda Smokey sauce
4 tablespoons Lane’s BBQ Sorta White sauce
2 tablespoons finely chopped onions (or shallots for milder flavour)
Directions
Mix the chopped onions, 6 tbsp Kinda Smokey sauce, and 4 tbsp Sorta White sauce in a bowl until well combined.
Taste and adjust ratios if you want it smokier or creamier. Set aside (it gets better as it sits).
Cut each roti paratha to a suitable burger size if they're very large
Heat a pan, or flat grill over medium heat.
Brush or spread a little ghee on both sides and grill the parathas until golden, crispy, and flaky (about 1–2 minutes per side). Keep warm.
Divide the 1 kg mince into balls — 80g balls for double patties
Heat a heavy flat-top griddle, cast-iron skillet, or hotplate over high heat until very hot.
Place a mince ball on the hot surface. Immediately smash it thin with a burger press, spatula, or heavy weight.
Season the top generously with Lane’s Signature rub.
Cook for 2–3 minutes until a good crust forms, then flip.
Add a slice of American cheese on top and cook until melted (another 1 minute or so).
Remove and repeat with remaining balls.
Add your smash patty with melted cheese.
Add any extra toppings
Spread more special sauce on the top paratha.
Close it up and serve immediately while everything is hot and crispy.
