Ingredients
- 1 large salmon fillet, skin on
- 3–4 tbsp Lane’s Honey BBQ Rub
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tbsp honey
- Pinch of salt (to taste)
- (Optional) 1 small piece of hot charcoal for smoked butter
Directions
Prep the Salmon - Place the salmon skin-side up in a tray. Pour hot (not boiling) water over the skin. Peel the skin off carefully once it loosens.
Slice & Braid - Slice the salmon fillet lengthwise into 3 long strips, leaving the top end attached so it stays together. Season generously all over with Lane’s Honey BBQ Rub. Braid the 3 strips neatly. Secure the loose end with a toothpick or small skewer.
Make the basting butter - In a small bowl, mix melted butter, honey, Honey BBQ Rub, and salt. For smoked butter, carefully drop in a hot charcoal from the smoker and let it infuse for 2–3 minutes before removing.
Baste the hot salmon braid generously with the butter mixture. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Enjoy! - Serve with your favourite sides, or flake into salads, tacos, or rice bowls.
