FABBQQ – What's the difference between a rub & a seasoning?

Ever seen these words used interchangeably and thought 'Whats the bloody difference' Hell, we even say both on our bottles!
🔥🧂
The difference between a rub and a seasoning mostly based on the use. A Rub is primarily used pre-cook and as well as imparting flavour it's job can be to create the base for a bark to develop like on briskets or, create colour like that beautiful mahogany colour you see on those perfect looking ribs on instagram.
🔥🧂
Side note, sometimes you'll hear the term 'Dry Brine' this is a bit of a weird one but usually what their referring to is using a rub and letting it sit for a longer period.
🔥🧂
A Seasoning can be finer in texture and it's job is primarily a flavouring. Think - Chicken salt or that stuff that makes everything taste like bacon.
🔥🧂
Where it gets muddy is, alot of seasonings can be used as a rub and vice versa. For example you can use our Magic Dust to rub a pork butt and get an amazing bark and colour, or if you want, you can use it to 'season' Chips, popcorn, or roasted veggies.

Cool so that makes sense... but what about a sauce and a marinade? yeah, let's tackle that one another day 🥵
